Students continue a Saxon phonics curriculum with numerous chapter books and supplementary readers. The Harcourt Reading/Language Arts Program is our core for reading instruction. Besides having a strong reading strand, it emphasizes language arts and writing. Students learn phonics, not only through the Harcourt series, but also through supplemental Saxon lessons, picture, and chapter books and other supplement readers. Students also participate in Accelerated Reader, an accelerated reading program designed to encourage students to develop a love for reading.
Georgia history and communities are stressed in third grade. U.S. and regional history are emphasized in fourth grade. Saxon math, which is taught through high school, stresses learning new mathematical concepts in small increments while constantly reinforcing previously covered lessons.
