Mission Statement

Edmund Burke Academy is located in scenic Burke County. It was founded in 1960 supporting grades 1-8 based on Christian ideals and principles. Later, the school expanded to include grades 9-12 and had the first graduating class in 1971. Since its beginning, the school itself has met in a variety of places ranging from a Masonic Lodge (which has since been torn down) to a building (where the Burke County Board of Education is housed today) to a home (the Brown House).
The present building was built by EBA families and volunteers who shared the same vision and wanted to provide the best for their children. Without this type of loyalty, work ethic, vision, and sacrifice, our school would not be the family that it is today.
Edmund Burke Academy is proud of our 58 years of academic excellence. Edmund Burke offers a full college-preparatory academic program, a full literary program, and a solid athletic program.

Alumni Basketball Game

Alumni Basketball game Saturday!

Calling all alumni!
This Saturday Edmund Burke Academy Spartans is hosting our first alumni game in over a decade. This will be the inaugural Charlie Story Memorial Alumni Game. The cost to play is $0. $5 admission will be charged and T-shirts will be available to purchase at the gate. We hope you will make every effort to attend as we will be honoring a great member of our community, alumnus, and friend Charlie Story.
Proceeds from the gate, T-shirts sales, and concession stand will help provide a scholarship to one senior girl and one senior boy basketball player annually and help support the boys and girls basketball programs.
Girls game will begin at 4:00
Boys game will follow.

Andy Woodard

EBA Announces new Athletic Director & Head Football Coach

Edmund Burke Academy welcomes Andy Woodard as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Coach Woodard comes from Bulloch Academy where he served as Athletic Director as assistant head football coach. He comes highly touted with many accolades both on the field and in the classroom. He has won many Region Championships and has consistently been in the playoffs in football, baseball, and track throughout his career. Coach Woodard is an AP Certified teacher with experience in history and physical education. “I am excited about getting back to my two passions which are interacting with students in the classroom and on the football field. Setting high expectations and pushing them both physically and academically to be their best is what I love to do,” said Coach Woodard. Prior to his employment at Bulloch Academy, Andy was also previously an assistant baseball and football coach at Aquinas High School in Augusta, GA.

“We are very excited about our school’s growth and about how we are building a coaching staff that is committed to excellence on the athletic field and growing leaders in our community,” said Headmaster Adam Brett.
